But even the giant, full color pictures from the Broadway production can't quite capture just how magical it was live. Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, often known simply as Peter Pan, is a work by J. M. Barrie, in the form of a 1904 play and a 1911 novel titled Peter and Wendy, often extended in Peter Pan and Wendy. Being a huge fan of the book series, I just wondered about the choices the author in his adaptation. The play is a VERY watered down version of the novel and leaves out some important information. However, the crude portrayal of colonized natives as "me speak English" barbarians and the playwright's suggestion to not cast women except in the role of Molly to show how excluded women are peeved me.
